Finally finished my Gemsona! I’m such a huge fan of Steven Universe and I love all the gems so much that I just had to draw myself as one of them! So here she is, Raw Onyx. I wanted to do something a little different from all the other gems we’ve seen so far and after seeing the episode(s) with the Kindergarten I got to thinking how interesting it would be to see a gemstone who’s maybe a bit “unfinished”. I don’t know much about the kindergarten or how it works exactly so i’m not making an theories or anything I just wanted to kind of have some fun with it. But when Amethyst says “heres the hole I popped out of!” I was thinking of what might have happened to the gems who weren’t quite ready to pop out of their holes when the Kindergarten was abandoned. So my gemsona is kind of based off the idea that she was pulled or forced out of her little hole before she was “complete”. That’s why I went with the rough, more rock like version of onyx as opposed to the smooth, faceted/tumbled version. So anyways, her gem is located where her left eye would be, and because it’s so rough and unfinished looking she’s a bit self conscious about it and keeps it covered with an eyepatch. Since she is an unfinished gem she doesn’t have a magic weapon (or she isn’t able to summon it) but to make up for it she’s trained herself to be fairly good at hand to hand combat, along with a knife she keeps in a holster on her thigh. What do you guys think?
